I have been using Source Edit for some time but I have noticed that the latest version was released in 2004. I, unfortunately, have adopted Vista (hard drive corrupted when the power supply blew) and I am having problems.
Source Edit is going into a non-responsive state. It first started happening when Outlook scanned for new email. Now it is getting worse, sometimes hanging for several minutes after entering a small amount of text.
I don't really want to dump Source Edit as I really like it when it is working, but I may have to as I can't charge my customers for time wasted by my tools.

lcwakeman Member | After more examination, SOurce Edit seems to have issues with the file system. When I try to expand a directory or even select one in the navigation pane or if I save a file, the editor goes unresponsive for several minutes, |

Joacim Andersson Administrator | 1. On Vista and Windows 7, make sure you run Source Edit with elevated privileges (right click > run as administrator).
2. In the Options dialog box check the "Use standard file dialogs" option on the Settings page. |

2. Did that years ago.
I like Source Edit because it is normally rather light weight. I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and convert to Eclipse as it doesn't demonstrate this problem and I can get work done. I just wich it didn't carry so much baggage.
I am reminded of 'Big Bang Theory' Monday night. Sheldon got a new laptop: "My new laptop has Windows 7 on it. Windows 7 is much more user friendly than Vista. I don't like that." |
