Srcedit and Win 7?

I've been using Source Edit for several years, like the program, great job!

Today I upgraded to a new Windows 7 laptop. So far, SE works fine for editing functions, etc., but the "Save As" dialog box doesn't display anything; user is unable to specify anything.

Also, the right-click "close" on the filename tab doesn't appear to work.

Best,
Mike

For the Save As and Open dialogs to work on Vista and Windows 7 you need to click Tools > Options and on the Settings tab check the "Use standard file dialogs" option.

Oh, that works, thanks! Any other Windows 7 "gotchas"? I was on a deadline yesterday, haven't really exercised the program (upgrades only happen when you don't have the time to upgrade, of course!).

You should run in elevated mode, in other words as an Administrator.

I too have been a long time user of Source Edit and recently starting using it on Windows 7. What I've noticed is that every few seconds the cursor changes into the "thinking" circle (sorry, no better way I can think of to describe it). It becomes very aggravating when using a drop down menu, since when the cursor changes it closes the drop down.

Open the Options dialog and select the Files node. Uncheck Auto Refresh in the Files Window section.

Sorry to hear that Jim. I can't really say what is causing your problem. I run Source Edit on a Windows 7 64-bit computer without the problem you describe. There must be something else that causing SE to not work properly, but I just can't reproduce it on my computer.

I figured out how to stop the "thinking" issue. If I install SE outside of the Program Files directory it doesn't have that issue. Although now I'm unable to select SE in the "Open With..." window when I right click on a file. I can navigate to the srcedit.exe but when I select it, it doesn't show up in the "Other Programs" window so I can select it.

You should be able to have it in the Program Files folder if you start SE with Administrator priveleges.
